Pairing: Stig Bernard x Aisha (Genesis Climber MOSPEADA)
Warning: this writing contains spoilers

So I decided to write this. I know, they’re canon, but I still want to express my thoughts on why I choose Stig x Aisha over, say, Yellow x Aisha, or Ray x Aisha, or even Stig x Marlene. I never really dig Marlene’s kind of character so I have no regret at all that she dies in the end… I mean, in the beginning. Apologies to all Marlene’s fans, if any.

And on with the pairing.

PhotobucketThe boy: Second Lieutenant Stig Bernard, a 20 year old Earthling born in Mars. Bernard joined the Second Liberation Force in their attempt to recapture Earth from the mysterious alien race, the Inbits, which had forced most human beings to leave Earth for safe bases in Mars, Moon, and Jupiter. Bernard had asked the hand of the girl he loved for a marriage, but the ship that brought Marlene, his fiancee, exploded when it entered the Earth’s atmosphere during the campaign. Shaken, Bernard, the only survivor of Unit 21, decided to carry on their original mission: to go to Reflex Point, the main centre of the Inbit’s activities.

Note: Fans have pointed out that Bernard’s given name is written as ‘Stikku’ in katakana, so many say that his name should be ‘Stick’ instead of ‘Stig’. I stick (pun!) with Stig – which is the official ADV name. And somehow I like it better than ‘Stick’. (Stig Inge Bjornbye, anyone?)

PhotobucketThe girl: Aisha, one of the first Inbits to take human form in the course of their evolution. Her name was actually given by Yellow Belmont, Bernard’s fellow soldier. She was found without any memories by Ray and Huquet (Bernard’s team members) in an abandoned house. (Aisha had accidentally fallen into the house when she was being transported to another place by other Inbits.)

Key item: A necklace Bernard got from Marlene; it also stores Marlene’s last message saying that she accepted Bernard’s proposal.

A collection of gags and lighter-toned short stories featuring the knights of the Round Table (from The Noble Book of Arthur, to be exact):

I mean, with me working at a snail's speed and all...

And I decided to make colour pages for the introduction. What a strain to put on oneself, knowing how slow I work and how limited the time I can dedicate every day for art. I wasn't really satisfied with page one, but I like page two (although after I provided it online, I realised there were some mistakes in it... oh whatever, LOL. Let's make it into a game: Show the mistakes!).

l-r: Sir Lucas the Butler, Lucas' younger brother Sir Bedivere the Admiral, Sir Baudwin the Constable-cum-Royal Surgeon, Sir Ulfius the Chamberlain

This page shows Sir Lucas, Sir Bedivere, Sir Baudwin, and Sir Ulfius - in my Arthurian universe they are the old knights who have been dubbed 'The Order of the Wolves' for defending Camelot while the country was kingless (except for Bedivere, the other knights do hold the same positions - chamberlain, butler, and royal surgeon/constable in the traditional legends. Plus, traditionally Sir Bedivere is not Lucas' brother). Having a wolf on your badge shows that you've held a great service in a siege - this if I didn't interpret the information wrongly...

This series has been in the making, or rather, designing since some time in 2001-2003 (I have to check my old drawing books again), and I'm really looking forward to finally realising the storyboards into real comics. The storyboard for Funeral Pyre itself has been sitting in my drawer for about 2 years, and it keeps on being refined and revised. The designs for the knights have been changed too time and again - Ulfius was the latest to experience this.

The slowly-accumulating comic is here: Funeral Pyre.

And a new default icon to celebrate it, ahahahah. in

So ahem I decided to make a Smack Jeeves account. I think it's a good way to put my webcomics - conserving my own space in Mata Kelabu. By the way, Mata Kelabu (and the whole Coffee Cat site) is currently down, but [profile] jeffcobain is fixing it. For the time being, nothing to see there.

And this is my first comic for Smack Jeeves,
Breathing the Driven Snow. 12 pages so far, forgive my snail-like speed.

Yeah. I'm establishing a connection with Cocona from the J9 fansite.
And we're having so much fun in Pixiv (insert big red heart pictures here).

Too bad, I just found out that the J9 complete DVD Boxset is only available from Amazon Japan. But Cocona suggested Tenso to help me shop. Well, later... when I have the money! :D

OK, so... my long-time friend Gembi (whose also my mutual friend with Pat) called me 'guru indie' ('indie teacher') and shortened it to 'gurundie'. I was reading the post when I signed up to Dreamwidth and decided to use the word as my username here.

But then a friend said it sounds like Gerindra. Oh well, whatever, what's done's done! :D
